Angel Food Ministries was founded in 1994 by Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo as an outreach of Emmanuel Praise Church in Monroe, Georgia.  Angel Food Ministries began with 34 families and has now grown to serve thousands of families across the United States.  Angel Food Ministries is feeding thousands of families through churches and community organizations in more than 30 states each month.  Angel Food Ministries has been serving the Rio Grande Valley since 2004 by partnering with churches and organizations here in the Rio Grande Valley.
      Angel Food Ministries began under the direction of Good Shepherd Church headed by James Brown some three years ago.  In the past year The Angel Food Minsitry was transfered to Living Bread Ministries.  At this time the ministry went from three board members to five board members.  A board meeting was held which resulted in Lou Trevino elected as President, with Linda Brown as Vice President, Mina Garza was placed in as secretary, and James Brown was elected as Treasurer and Jonathan D. Brown was named as Exectutive Director with Paul Hemphill as a non-voting Advisory Legal Member.
     Throughout the ministry there are monthly days designated for food distribution made possible by a volenteer group of dedicated people committed to the serving of others.  There are more volunteers than space and we all know who these people are that give up their time and efforts so others can be served.  There is no way to name all that so freely give but I know their names are recorded in heavenly places.
